A Desert Hero is a 1919 American short comedy film directed by and starring Fatty Arbuckle. The film is considered to be lost.

Humor Risk

Harpo played the hero, a detective named Watson who "made his entrance in a high hat, sliding down a coal chute into the basement". Groucho played an "old movie" villain, who "sported a long moustache and was clad in black", while Chico was probably his "chuckling [Italian] henchman". Zeppo portrayed a playboy who was the owner of a nightclub in which most of the action took place, including "a cabaret, [which allowed] the inclusion of a dance number". The final shot showed Groucho "in ball and chain, trudging slowly off into the gloaming". Harpo, in a rare moment of romantic glory, gets the girl in the end. This film is lost.

The Volunteer Strike Breakers

A strike among the hotel waiters is on. The papers are full of it. Chester Colton, and Harris Baldwin, young college chaps, read that waiters are needed in all the big hotels and restaurants. They apply for positions at Belfonte's restaurant. Harris secures a job as head-waiter and Chester is appointed as one of the regular staff. Harris's fiancée has an engagement with her chum to take dinner with her at the restaurant. They boys pay so much attention to the girls that they neglect the other patrons, who make a kick and complain to the proprietor.

Jack Breen and his wife, Lizzie, are professional crooks, who live in a fine house and set themselves up as belonging to the best. Breen gets his living by various means, including begging. He dresses in ragged clothes and picks up crusts in the street, which he pretends to eat, thereby exciting the sympathy of passers-by.

Law student Bob Ward, short on money, takes a job as a "dancing companion" at a roadhouse, where most of his clients are women looking for a little excitement outside their marriage. He falls in love with Sallie Smith, a cigarette girl at the roadhouse, but wealthy young wastrel Tom Mannion also has his eyes on Sallie. Tom persuades her to attend a party on his yacht, and since Sallie has had a fight with Bob over his job, she accepts. Complications ensue.

Izzy Murphy is a street vendor of scents that falls in love with the beautiful woman (Audrey Ferris) whose picture adorns the perfume bottle he sells. Fräulein Seifenschaum is a German silent film by Ernst Lubitsch from 1915. It is considered Lubitsch's first directorial work and is one of the director's lost works. With the outbreak of World War I , all the men, including the barbers , are drafted. As a result, the women have to take over their work, and so mother and daughter share the work in a barber's shop: the daughter soaps the customers, while the mother then more or less skilfully shaves the men. A customer named Ernst also wants to be shaved. He makes eyes at the daughter and is resolutely thrown out of the shop by his mother. Ernst flees with his great love in the car and is followed by his mother on foot and finally on a tricycle.

Tomson, a financial adviser, is called to the aid of the country of Sylvania by the Grand Duke Constantino, known as "Tino." Tomson refuses to aid Tino until the Duke's son Alexis is married. However, Alexis, a romantic, is not interested in the blue-blooded types that his father has selected for him. Instead he wants fate to intercede. Upon learning this, Tomson plans a wife-hunting trip to Paris, "the beauty mart of the world."
