The Witch
Amidst the chilly white winter, bright-eyed Alma, wanders through Barcelona’s cobblestone streets. Suddenly, she spots an unassuming toy shop. Her gaze is drawn to a nearly identical figure staring back at her from the storefront window. As if by magic, the shop’s door swings open. But to her bewilderment, her elusive twin is nowhere to be found.
The young poet Frederik confides in his shadow about his love for Princess Claudia. After all, who could be a more loyal and discreet friend? Frederik trusts his shadow implicitly, so one day he asks it to visit the castle in his place and see how the princess is doing. But the shadow also falls in love with Claudia, and from that moment on, he is obsessed with the idea of taking everything away from the poet. He already has his voice, he has stolen his verses, and even his appearance! All he needs to do now is take away his beloved girl. He almost succeeds.
At the royal court, a prince is presenting the princess whom he is pledged to marry when a witch suddenly appears. Though driven off, the witch soon returns, summons some of her servants, and carries off the princess. A rescue party is quickly organized, but the unfortunate captive has been taken to a strange, forbidding realm, from where it will be impossible to rescue her without some special help.
