Every year, over 100,000 Mexicans living in the USA are deported to Mexico. Many of them have grown up and spent decades in America, working, paying taxes, starting families. Some can’t even speak Spanish. In a matter of days. they find themselves torn away from their children and loved ones and escorted across the border. The border town of Tijuana has become an airlock between two worlds, where the broken lives of migrants end up. For many of these deportees, the only work available is in relocated American call centres. Rocio, Richard and Sergio are just three of those affected. We follow them for nearly a year as they struggle to make sense of the situation they are now in and rebuild their lives.

Saur Sepuh III: The Flower of Mount Lawu

Set during the kingdom of Majapahit after the reign of King Hayam Wuruk, the Saur Sepuh films were based on the popular radio plays in the 80s. Lasmini is raped and thrown into a ravine, but is saved by Granny Lawu. She is then taught martial arts until the granny dies. Then Lasmini leaves the mountain to find her rapists and kills them one by one. One day, she has a fight with Mantili because she is close to Bentar. Then Lasmini returns to Mount Lawu to improve her martial arts. After learning new skills, she returns to challenge all the martial arts experts and is victorious. Mantili then goes to improve his skills from Brama and challenges Lasmini. Now Lasmini is defeated.

Comme si j'étais morte

Heaven Over the Marshes

Unlike most Italian films of the 1940s, Augusto Genina's Cielo Sulla Palude opened in Venice rather than Rome. The film's American title was Heaven Over the Marshes, and indeed most of the story is set in the disease-ridden Pontine Marshes on the outskirts of Rome. This was the home of Maria Goretti, a pious young girl who was murdered by her would-be seducer. For reasons elucidated in the course of the film, Maria's short time on earth made her worthy of Sainthood, which was actually bestowed upon her shortly after the release of this film. Maria Goretti is well-played by Ines Orsini. Cielo Sulla Palude served as the comeback feature for director Augusto Genina, whose previous pro-fascist films had caused him to be blacklisted after WW II.

The Minds Of 99 - Tre Døgn i Parken

THE MINDS OF 99 – THREE DAYS IN THE PARK is a concert documentary film that follows the band and the individual members in the period leading up to, during, and after the magical weekend in the Park. The film takes us back to a moving, exciting and unforgettable period in time, the time of Liberation and emancipation. A young teacher – Partisan arrives in a small Serbian town. His wartime, partisan “pedagogy” conflicts with the old methods of work in schools. The children, of course, stand by their teacher, their true friend. The film is a child’s memory and remembrance of an evil, cruel period that left deep imprints in the children’s sensitive and delicate soul of entire generations whose childhood was wounded in the war. The story unfolds over a period of several months, between the fall of 1944 and the summer of 1945, when somewhere far away, in Japan, the atomic bomb is fried to announce a new-atomic era.
