Interrogations of patricide offenders, footage of vandalised statues, and photographs of Victorian children in faux gardens are interwoven into a metaphor for the perverse legacy of privilege and wealth inherited by those who inhabit The Garden.

When the hard cuts and juxtapositions reveal a landscape of oppressive social control, the vloggers’ mundane normal soon gives way to the surreal. Seemingly innocuous recordings about shopping, driving or dating are fraught with foreboding as the vloggers who yearn for freedom, love and self-expression find themselves unable to escape society’s haunting bondage.

Islam

This short film is part of Karpo Aćimović Godina's experimental and documentary work in 1970s Yugoslav cinema. It extends his interest in regional identities, minorities, and the visual traces left by different cultures on Yugoslav territory. The film offers a journey through examples of architecture, decor, and objects related to Islamic tradition in the former Yugoslavia, such as mosques, ornamental elements, and calligraphy. It explores how this art is embedded in the region's history and in the daily lives of the communities that produced it. It is an observational film, without a dramatic plot, functioning primarily as a "visual essay" on the material culture of Islam in a Balkan context. The tone is analytical and contemplative, closer to a cultural study or a poetic inventory.

Making Space

Making Space is a film about trying to find oneself in the constant flow of change and renewal, navigating through the anxiety that comes with not knowing where ‘home’ is, and finally letting go of the need of finding one single person, place, or answer that will solve all your problems. It’s also a film about faces, closeness, and intimacy, and how a Super 8 camera allowed her to get closer to the people she was portraying while also keeping a protective distance. This film was part of a project commissioned by the Echo Park Film Center for the 20th anniversary of its location in LA. The project was supported by the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts. Making Space was shot in 2021, entirely on KODAK TRI-X Reversal Film.
