Yo! MTV Raps

Yo! MTV Raps is a two-hour American television music video program, which ran from August 1988 to August 1995 through its original Yo! MTV Raps name and later by Yo!. The program was the first hip hop music show on the network, based on the original MTV Europe show, aired one year earlier. Yo! MTV Raps produced a lively mix of rap videos, interviews with rap stars, live in studio performances and comedy. The show also yielded a brazilian version called Yo! MTV and broadcast by MTV Brasil from 1990 to 2005.

Your Hit Parade

Your Hit Parade is an American radio and television music program that was broadcast from 1935 to 1955 on radio, and seen from 1950 to 1959 on television. It was sponsored by American Tobacco's Lucky Strike cigarettes. During this 24-year run, the show had 19 orchestra leaders and 52 singers or groups. Many listeners and viewers casually referred to the show with the incorrect title The Hit Parade. When the show debuted, there was no agreement as to what it should be called. The press referred to it in a variety of ways, with the most common being "Hit Parade," "The Hit Parade," and even "The Lucky Strike Hit Parade". The program's title was not officially changed to "Your Hit Parade" until November 9, 1935 Each Saturday evening, the program offered the most popular and bestselling songs of the week. The earliest format involved a presentation of the top 15 songs. Later, a countdown with fanfares led to the top three finalists, with the number one song for the finale. Occasional performances of standards and other favorite songs from the past were known as "Lucky Strike Extras."

Making the Video is an MTV show, consisting of half-hour episodes, which chronicles the process of filming various music videos. Usually the director outlines the concept of the video and the show often includes light-hearted and humorous moments. It always concludes with a premiere of the finished video. The show premiered on July 11, 1999 and is currently on a hiatus as of 2009. MTV2 has a similar show entitled [Name of Band/Artist] Makes a Video that has featured artists such as 50 Cent, Fall Out Boy, Dashboard Confessional, Evanescence, and Mos Def among others.

A weekly one hour live music show that is anchored by three featured performances, all diverse, unique and completely exclusive. It provides a platform for artists to express and reveal who they are in whatever performance or content inspires them to connect with their fans.

B4

B4 was an early morning music video programme broadcast since 2004 on weekdays on Channel 4 at 7am. It was normally broadcast as part of Channel 4's breakfast programming following children's programme The Hoobs and preceding a number of comedy programmes normally imported from America. Produced by the firm behind ITVs The Chart Show, and spin off from their B4 music channel on cable and satellite, the show features around 7 new upfront videos each day that will be released in the United Kingdom in the near future, normally within the next month.

Headbangers Ball

Headbangers Ball (also referred to as simply The Ball) was a music television program consisting of heavy metal music videos airing on MTV, MTV2 (its sister channel), MTV Australia, MTV Rocks (formerly known as MTV2 Europe), MTV Adria (the MTV subsidiary covering the former Yugoslavia), MTV Brand New, MTV Portugal, MTV Finland, MTV Arabia, MTV Norway, MTV Sweden, MTV Denmark, MTV Greece, MTV Türkiye, MTV Israel, MTV Hungary and MTV Japan. The show began on MTV on April 18, 1987,[1] playing heavy metal and hard rock music videos late at night, from both well-known and more obscure artists. The show offered (and became famous because of) a stark contrast to Top 40 music videos shown during the day. However, with the mainstream rise of alternative rock, grunge, pop punk and rap music in the 1990s, the relevance of Headbangers Ball came into question, and the show was ultimately canceled in 1995. Over eight years later, as new genres of heavy metal were gaining a commercial foothold and fan interest became unavoidable, the program was reintroduced on MTV2. It has remained in varying degrees on the network's website, but is no longer shown on television. Many of the videos that aired on the first incarnation of the series would find a home on the similarly themed Metal Mayhem on sister channel MTV Classic.

MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica

Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica was the Latin American version of the Video Music Awards. They were established in 2002 to celebrate the top music videos of the year in Latin America and the world. They are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV Networks Latin America. In 2010, the awards were cancelled replaced by the MTV World Stage Mexico.

Bled Music

"Bled Music" is an Algerian musical television program broadcast on ENTV between 1991 and 1992. directed by Aziz Smati and presented by Kamel Dynamite, Farid Rockeur and Samia Benkherroubi. The show, with its irreverent tone, was very popular and had a significant impact on the Algerian music scene, allowing the emergence of many artists including Chaba Fadela, Cheb Sahraoui, Cheb Anouar and Mohamed Lamine. A ranking of music videos by popularity and relied on fans sending their votes by mail. At the end of the 1980s, unrest broke out in Algeria which led the country into a Black Decade. At this time, fundamentalist groups attempted to ban music and most other forms of artistic expression. The show continued to air despite death threats, but on February 14, 1994, Aziz Smati was shot in both legs by a young extremist, which ultimately led to the end of the show .

FNMTV

FNMTV is a music video program on MTV focused on premiering new music videos and airing viewers' instantaneous feedback from its website. F N was branded to stand for "Friday Night" to signify when the premiere block airs. The Friday night premiere block, FNMTV Premieres, taped at Ren-Mar Studios in Hollywood, was hosted by Pete Wentz and aired in encore for the remainder of the week. Music video blocks with viewer feedback and artist commentary aired weekdays 8 to 11:00 AM ET/PT and Tuesday through Friday at 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM ET/PT on MTV. A new early morning block of the same name was introduced alongside FNMTV. It consisted of abbreviated clips of music videos, approximately 60 seconds each. MTV confirmed that a new season would air December 5, 2008 following the ending of TRL. Some saw the show as a successor to or replacement for the obsolete TRL. But the new "season" only consisted of one holiday themed episode. An unrelated Spring Break 90 minute special of the same name aired Friday, March 27, 2009. The early morning block ended in January 2009, leaving the channel virtually devoid of music related programming for more than 2 months, until the introduction of AMTV.

Buzzin'

Buzzin' was a TV series that focus on musicians Cisco Adler and Shwayze. The show documents how Shwayze and Adler are becoming more famous and the exciting and entertaining life of being famous. They are both from Malibu, California. Their style of music is a collaboration of Hip-Hop and Alternative. The show was on MTV and was debuted on July 23, 2008.

Music for UNICEF Concert

The Music for UNICEF Concert: A Gift of Song was a benefit concert of popular music held in the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on January 9, 1979. It was intended to raise money for UNICEF world hunger programs and to mark the beginning of the International Year of the Child. The concert was videotaped and broadcast the following day on NBC in the U.S. and around the world. The moderator was David Frost, with Gilda Radner and Henry Winkler also introducing some of the performers. Henry Fonda made a short appearance. Each performer signed a large parchment declaring support for UNICEF's goals. The concert was the idea of impresario Robert Stigwood, the Bee Gees, and David Frost, who originally conceived it as an annual event. Not all of the performances were truly live, with ABBA lip-synching their new song "Chiquitita" and the Bee Gees lip-synching their song "Too Much Heaven". It raised less than one million dollars at the time for UNICEF, although this figure did not include longer-term royalties from the songs and repeat performances.

The Grind

The Grind was a dance music show broadcast on the cable television station MTV between 1992 and 1997. It replaced Club MTV, and featured people dancing to music tracks in a studio, linked by various hosts, including Eric Nies and DJ Jackie Christie. While Club MTV was mostly Dance, House and Freestyle, The Grind featured Hip-Hop and Rap with an occasional Dance hit. The show spawned a number of aerobics and workout videotapes. When MTV moved to its current location at 1515 Broadway, they lost the studio where Club MTV and The Grind were originally taped and episodes were taped on the roof of the building. The new space was small and inclement weather prevented taping. Noise ordinances prevented playing loud music while taping outdoors, so the show had to be taped without music and dubbed in later. Other installments went to Zuma Beach in California, Brooklyn, Miami and Hawaii. Nies was replaced in 1995 by various guest hosts. In the summer of 1998 until it was cancelled it was rebranded, revitalized with a sleeker look as The Daily Burn and was taped on the New Jersey Shores. Michael Bergin and Tsianina Joelson co-hosted with DJ Skribble as the DJ.

Big World Cafe

Big World Café was a music show on British television. Broadcast on Channel 4 in 1989, it was presented by Mariella Frostrup, Eagle Eye Cherry and Jazzie B. It was produced by Andrea Wonfor, who had previously worked on The Tube. During the programme's second series, Andy Kershaw was recruited to report on world music. Artists who appeared on the show included Les Négresses Vertes, New Order, Prefab Sprout and Wet Wet Wet.
