The reasons why contact is broken are diverse. For example, a child who has been abandoned by one of the parents after a broken relationship or a baby who has been given up for adoption. Getaway is Australia's longest-running travel television program. Debuting on 14 May 1992, it is broadcast on the Nine Network and TLC. Its main competitor was The Great Outdoors on the Seven Network until 2009. A New Zealand version of the program, with some local content, used to be broadcast on TV One and Prime TV. The first season only looked at only Australian resorts and locations, but by 1993 had expanded to look at overseas destinations.
