This Japanese spin-off follows 101 trainees with the intention of producing an 11-member boy band, with members selected by viewers.

Produce 101 (프로듀스 101) is a reality music group survival show on Mnet. It is a large-scale project in which the public "produces" a unit group by choosing members from a pool of 101 trainees from 46 entertainment companies as well as the group's concept, debut song, and group name.
BOYS24 is a 2016 reality boy group unit survival show. It is a large-scale project in which the units of a selected number of members will be produced from a pool of 49 free-agents. 28 trainees, instead of the planned 24, were selected as Boys24 members and were divided into four sub-units who held concerts three to five days a week in rotation for a year. After the 1st Semi-Final, Unit Black debuted as a promotional unit for three months. The final eight winners debuted together on October 26, 2017 as IN2IT.
I-LAND (아이랜드) is a South Korean boy group reality survival show produced by Mnet and organized by Belift Lab, which at the time of airing was a joint venture between entertainment companies CJ ENM and HYBE. It premiered on June 26, 2020 and broadcasted every Friday at 11 p.m. KST on Mnet. A second season, I-Land 2, was expected to premiere in the first half of 2022 featuring female trainees; however, on July 15, 2022, it was announced that it would be postponed. Instead in 2023, HYBE partnered with JTBC to produce R U Next? featuring trainees who would debut in Illit, signing with Belift Lab, becoming labelmates with Enhypen. On July 24, 2023, Mnet announced the second season titled I-Land 2: N/⍺, not in affiliation with Hybe or Belift Lab, featuring female trainees. The show started airing in April 2024, and is collaborating with The Black Label, with the final lineup debuting in WakeOne.

Boys II Planet is a survival show broadcasted on Mnet. It is a sequel to Girls Planet 999 and Boys Planet. Planet K premiered on July 17 while Planet C started airing on July 18, 2025. Boys II Planet is based on the themes and aesthetics of space. It consists of two programs, K and C, produced in Korean and Chinese respectively, with both programs following the same format for each contest. The show will create a twin group project, with both groups debuting at the same time. The final line-up will work in two different groups, K and C, and will also work as a complete group.
The Debut: Dream Academy is a talent competition reality show created as an international collaboration between record labels Hybe and Geffen Records aimed at creating a global girl group. The fan-interactive project involves 20 female candidates from around the world competing in three "missions" to test their artistry. Eliminations occur after each mission, leaving 10 contestants to compete in the finale, during which the final group's members will be decided.
Idol School is a reality girl group survival show. The program aims to form a 9 members girl group out of 41 female participants, training them in singing and dancing in the span of 11 weeks.
