Kaiser is a short animated film, directed by the cartoonist Álvaro Marins, the Seth, in 1917. It is considered the first cartoon produced in Brazil.

The burglar enters the house. The maid is awakened and corners him in a closet. Adams comes, and explains the need for quiet, leaving the maid on guard with a gun. When Adams goes to send a hurry call for the doctor, "Spider" relieves the maid of the gun, and taking advantage of the opportunity, rifles the house. The daughter of an industrialist, Dorothy Winston, arranges to work on a newspaper in which her father places a substantial amount of advertising, Joe Madison, the reporter son of the paper's editor, offers to show her the ropes. A gunman employed by Mike Corney lands in jail, and Dorothy succeeds in interviewing him, getting him to divulge the whereabouts of a canceled check that will link Corney to Patterson, a corrupt political boss. Dorothy and Joe get the check, and Joe telephones his father to urge him to print an exposé of Patterson. Corney recovers the check, however, and Patterson institutes a damaging libel suit against the paper. Dorothy gets the check back and obtains photographic evidence to further incriminate Patterson and Corney. Dorothy and Joe decide to write the story of their life with each another. A lost film.

Mixed Wires

Insurance adjuster John Smith leaves for a nearby town to adjust a loss. He tells Mrs. Smith that he will be home in a few days. Traveling salesman John Smith leaves for a short business trip. He also tells Mrs. Smith to expect him in a few days. Salesman John wires his wife that he will be held up until the next day. Adjuster John Smith wires his wife that he will be home on the midnight express and to have lunch ready for him. The messages get crossed and many comical misunderstandings results until all is happily resolved.

Jack has fallen in love with an unknown beauty, and when he and his friend Tom meet her on the street, he is overjoyed to find his friend is acquainted with her, but furious at Tom's failure to introduce him. Knowing that Edith's family are in need of a butler, Tom proposes to Jack that he apply for the job, just for a lark. Jack does, and just to see him "buttle" is a picnic. He gets in wrong with everybody but Edith's father, who discovers that "Wilson," their former butler, is young Mr. Fuller, one of the richest bachelors in town. Edith and Jack run to each other's arms.

Ray and Roy Cheep are both in love with the charming manicurist, but each is unaware of his brother's "affairs." The lady, however, encourages both of them. The two boys are hard up, but live in hopes of their rich uncle loosening up with a substantial allowance. Finally the uncle tells them that he will give $1,000 to the one who marries first. They each go off for a license and a minister, but when they arrive at Miss Charmer's house they find her about to go out with uncle. The next day then each receive a check for $1,000, which helps to console them for the loss of the charming lady.

Ann Wharton, a rambunctious young student at the prestigious Bredwell Academy, is in trouble after a spoonful of cereal she flung at a classmate hits Mrs. Bredwell in the face. As she is being reprimanded in Mrs. Bredwell's office, a misunderstanding results in a member of the football team arriving at the office with Ann's clothes--she had left them behind when she changed into a football uniform so she could play football with the team--and Mrs. Bredwell writes to Ann's father notifying him that Ann is being expelled. She intercepts the letter, but her troubles are far from over.

Young Beth Manners ekes out a living painting china. One day she finds a shoe that had been lost by the wealthy Rodney Norton’s valet. When he tracks her down for the shoe he is instantly smitten. A rich estate is left to Rodney with the condition that he must relinquish it if the lost heir or heiress is found. Through a combination of circumstances Rodney learns that Beth Manners is the rightful owner of all his wealth. When he tells her she realizes she loves him too and they marry.

The High Cost of Flirting

Ethel Dunne and Jack Blakeney are sweethearts, despite the objections of Ethel's father. Mr. Dunne has just admonished the young couple when he is entrapped by a flirtatious gypsy beauty. When an innocent but comprising, situation occurs the gypsy’s husband Tony appears and demands $1,000 in a designated spot to escape an Italian bomb. Ethel and Jack find the note so when Dunne leaves the money, Jack arrests Tony and banks the money to Ethel's credit. Arriving home Father Norton tells of his great bravery in foiling the designing gypsy, but Jack and Ethel reveal their part in the little comedy.

His Weak Moment

Andy has developed a new type of kettle and travels to the "big city" to secure a patent. Once there, he becomes entangled in a series of misadventures involving a patent attorney's wife, which makes it look like he is having an affair. The situation is made worse by the presence of the jealous attorney and the arrival of Andy's own suspicious wife and interfering sister-in-law, who have followed him to the city. The various mix-ups and accusations threaten to turn a simple business trip into an "alienation of affections" lawsuit, and his great kettle invention is nearly forgotten in the ensuing chaos.

Jack Hastings writes a letter to his sweetheart, Kate, to come to his assistance as Count Caesar de Valdez, a Bolivian merchant, is arriving from Europe with three shiploads of rye, and threatens to "bear the market." Upon the Count's arrival he finds a letter from Jack, asking him to his apartment. The Count calls and is held by Jack and Kate under the pretext that the place is a sub-quarantine station. They pretend that the Count is ill, take his temperature and force him to bed. To their great embarrassment the Count tells them that his ships are loaded with rice not rye.

Ruth, a young manicurist, is desperately in love with Jimmie White, a mechanic. Ruth's friends make fun of her beau, as he is uneducated both in the matter of clothes and diplomacy.

Sam's pain-in-the-spurs son, Prince Abalaba, needs somebody to read him stories; Bugs, who'd sooner take the job than suffer the alternative, that involving being boiled in oil, signs on.
