Shipwrecked Among Cannibals

After opening scenes showing volcanoes of Java, an underground river, waterfalls, cloud effects, a coral island, the Ghost Rocks of Buru, and a tiger hunt in Siam, documentary footage of the cannibal tribes of New Guinea is framed by a fictional narrative in which the scientific expedition is shipwrecked along the southern New Guinea coast in the land of the Kia Kia headhunters, thus affording the crew the opportunity to film the tribal customs of these cannibals.

Skerry Fairy-Tale

The year is 1891. The director of MoDo, Frans Kempe, is about to build the largest and most modern sawmill in Europe and a complete ideal society after his own mind. The place he chooses is Norrbyskär, some skerries in the Baltic Sea outside the cost of Västerbotten in northern Sweden. The experimental society with it's 1500 inhabitants and the large sawmill will live for almost 60 years.

Indigenous people of Car Nicobar Island in the Andaman Archipelago

This documentation explores anthropologically various nuances of Car Nicobar tribes within the geographical settings of the Nicobar. It provides a rare view of the lesser known life style, belief system rituals practices festivals and livelihood patterns and traces the oral traditions mythology, costumes and dialect of the Car Nicobarese. The documentary highlights the vernacular style and architecture including the indigenous beehive like thickly thatched huts with afo grass and traditional structural geometry. The film explores the Betal and Coconut production as an economic activity within an overall fame work of ecology and associated folklore.
