Things are not going well in the depression-era town of Castle Gate. Mr. Ribaldi, a mysterious rich man with a disfigured face and an abrasive personality, has just bought and moved into a long-vacant mansion. Bonnie, an adolescent girl who loves to sing, ends up working for Ribaldi so that her family can stay in their house. But Ribaldi is quite an accomplished musician himself, and he is soon giving Bonnie voice lessons. Meanwhile, local businesses are being shut down by foreclosures, and the townspeople suspect Ribaldi is responsible.

His entire mission is put at risk when he kills a rival for her love, a French journalist and blackmailer. (This film was a heavily re-shot 76 minute version of the 1933 film Typhoon but with a dramatically altered plot from the original where the Japanese are now portrayed as unsympathetic villains. The new version was approved by German censors and released in 1934 although its critical reception was poor. It is possible that Wiene, who had left for Budapest in 1933 following the Nazi rise to power, did not personally work on the new version). From Wikipedia.

The audio of this live dvd is my unreleased (well, now it’s released) improved mix of Hoserama’s absolutely incredible IEM capture of Tool’s concert in Reno, NV on March 9, 2014. The video material is a compilation of essentially all concerts of Tool’s 2014 tour, with a primary focus on Reno (where the audio capture is from), Spokane, both San Francisco nights, Eugene, Cedar Park and the Mexico shows, though all concerts are featured. If you are a true Tool fan (and have the time), then turn off all the lights, get comfortable, and if you partake of illuminous material, now is the time, and ride the spiral from beginning to the end.
