The Anarchists

Set in 1920s Shanghai, the film recounts the activities of a group of young Koreans trying to destabilize Japanese control of their penninsula. Through an anti-occupation terrorist campaign, the five men hope to inspire a resurrection throughout their penninsular homeland.

MARUSYA NIKIFOROVA: Ukraine’s legendary anarchist warrior

A film version of the play which captures the brilliant performance by the Ukrainian actor, Mariya Hadubyak at the play’s world premiere in 2023 @ Montreal’s La Sala Rossa. She brought the audience to tears and their feet. Written and directed by Norman Nawrocki, the play was part of the 16th annual Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival. On stage, Hadubyak portrays the extraordinary real life Marusya Nikiforova (1885–1919), a fearless and feared, bad ass, Ukrainian woman anarchist and feminist military leader.

La Commune (Paris, 1871)

In 1871, a journalist for Versailles Television broadcasts a soothing and official view of events while a Commune television is set up to provide the perspectives of the Paris rebels. On a stage-like set, more than 200 actors interpret denizens of the Commune, especially the Popincourt neighborhood in the XIth arrondissement. They voice thoughts and feelings concerning the social and political reforms.
