The Straight Story

A retired farmer and widower in his 70s, Alvin Straight learns one day that his distant brother Lyle has suffered a stroke and may not recover. Alvin is determined to make things right with Lyle while he still can, but his brother lives in Wisconsin, while Alvin is stuck in Iowa with no car and no driver's license. Then he hits on the idea of making the trip on his old lawnmower, thus beginning a picturesque and at times deeply spiritual odyssey.

He rather puts all his hopes into the future of his two children, his teenage son Dieudonne and his little daughter Aline as he wants them to study hard to embrace Australian culture, but never forget their African roots and make a successful life. Dieudonne does not care about his father's desire, he's a known troublemaker at school. He misleads his father by telling him that he is doing remarkably well in his studies.

Reformed and fresh out of prison, Derek severs contact with the gang and becomes determined to keep Danny from going down the same violent path as he did.

The Good Shepherd
