Aroak is a documentary about the cycle of life through the passing of the seasons and the stories of 10 people from different generations, and the environment in which they live, closely connected to the land and animals. How they experience the passing of the seasons, how it was before and how they experience it now. They talk about their interaction with the environment, their feelings towards animals and plants. Aroak is also an audiovisual poem about nature and its magic, its sounds and its inhabitants.
Maj Doris follows the 74-year-old legendary Sámi woman Maj Doris Rimpi. Twenty years ago she had another kind of life. She traveled all around the world and she experienced a lot. Nowadays Maj Doris lives alone on a farm above the arctic circle in Sweden. She keeps reindeer but she’s also a sought-after artist, painter and actress.

Both are inspiring stories and that’s what it’s all about. I liked the film a lot. Both fighters pour their hearts out and we get a fantastic look at their strengths but also their vulnerabilities and fears.
