Des Blocs En Valais

Boulders in Valais presents the canton of Valais in Switzerland, its bouldering climbing spots and some of its historical and current actors and driving forces including Lucien Abbet, Benoît Dorsaz, Fred Nicole, Dave Graham... Frédéric and François Nicole gives us spectacular demonstrations of this sport, showing us routes like "Radja", the world's first 8b+. A topo-video part contains 28 climbing sites with a geographical map, and more than 160 video sequences for as many chosen blocks... more than 2h30 of climbing.

RACE TO 9A

In August 2023, three friends set themselves a friendly challenge: to climb a particularly difficult route. A 9a grade in the French system corresponds to 5.14d in the Yosemite decimal system. In September 2023, summer over, the three friends got to work. They trained with the same intensity as ever, working on their separate projects, climbing, and exchanging messages about their progress, difficulties, and setbacks. Follow Alex Honnold, Tommy Caldwell, and Sonnie Trotter as they share their thoughts on balancing family, work, and their climbing journeys.

Calanques

Two climbers, Dany Badier and Françoise Dassonville, swim to explore an underground cave in the Calanques, near Marseille, then equip themselves with climbing gear to scale the spectacular cliffs of the Calanques. Their ascent culminates at the summit of the Grande Candelle. Directed by Gilbert Dassonville in 1970 and produced by Cérès Films, this film won first prize at the Trento Mountain Film Festival in 1967.

Africa Fusion

Alex Honnold and Hazel Findlay head to Southern Africa for an experience of a lifetime. Africa Fusion takes us from the breathtaking orange granite and vast landscapes of Namibia, through the desert and across to lush red sandstone of Waterval Boven in South Africa. Carrying on the journey in South Africa we follow Alex and Hazel North to the wild and remote Blouberg (Blue Mountain) range. From the North we then journey far South to Cape Town, where Alex and Hazel explore a city crowned in mountains, from rock face to rock face. Their odyssey reveals surprising treasures and world-class climbing – while experiencing the joy of the journey along the way. Join them as they uncover these hidden gems in unforgettable settings.

Extreme Rock

In 1984 Ron Fawcett, is one of the most athletic climbers, he takes pleasure in taking up the challenge of climbing "free" without artificial aids, the equipment and rope being used only for safety, a revolution at the time. The documentary is part of "Pushing The Limits", a 10-episode series by Leo Dickinson documenting sporting adventures that push the limits of human endurance. Each episode focused on an extreme sport, ranging from rock climbing to hot air ballooning.

Waterwalker

Naturalist Bill Mason on his journey by canoe into the Ontario wilderness. The filmmaker and artist begins on Lake Superior, then explores winding and sometimes tortuous river waters to the meadowlands of the river's source. Along the way, Mason paints scenes that capture his attention and muses about his love of the canoe, his artwork and his own sense of the land. Mason also uses the film as a commentary on the link between God and nature and the vast array of beautiful canvases God created for him to paint. Features breathtaking visuals and exciting whitewater footage, with a musical score by Bruce Cockburn.

One More Piton

Georges Livanos. A name that hardly evokes anything, or not much, even in the heart of Chamonix, the Mecca of mountaineering. And yet, the one nicknamed “the Greek” in the 1950s, because of his paternal ancestry, was undoubtedly one of the most important French mountaineers of his time. High mountain guide, Yann Borgnet, is also passionate about the history of mountaineering. “The Greek” is one of the “old ones” who particularly marked him. Yann wants to follow in Georges’ footsteps. So the young guide imagines an alpine journey, designed to visit the great routes opened by Livanos. A dive into the heart of an immense vertical heritage, to meet a great, almost forgotten, figure of mountaineering and his heritage.

Silence

What does it take to climb the world’s first 9c? Bernardo Giménez' documentary shows what preceded on the afternoon of September 3, 2017 when professional rock climber Adam Ondra made a little piece of climbing history by sending his project in the Hanshelleren Cave in Norway. The route, eventually named Silence, received a new grade of 9c making it the hardest route in the world.
