Like Father and Son

Guoren travels the villages, selling goods of all kinds while he hunts for the man who stole the money for his son's care. Madou, one of the many abandoned children in the villages, hides in Guoren's truck so he can look for his father. A powerful but cathartic trip through rural China with a neorealist touch and non-professional actors who add authenticity to the story, prompting spontaneous laughter despite the challenging issues involved.

They have both rented rooms at a hotel near the Mui Wo forest, but when they enter the lobby, the only other person around is a bellboy.

Twin Kiddies

In March 1916, Pathé released a short feature entitled Little Mary Sunshine, starring a four-year-old Marie Osborne. This was one of the first features ever directed by King and it was so successful that Pathé asked the original production company, Balboa, for five more features with the same child wonder. All were produced during the second half of 1916, and only three of them survive today – one being Twin Kiddies, which shows the amazing progress King had made since the first film in the series. Of course, the story is thin, the ending quite abrupt, and the opening sequences rather long. Yet, the direction is much more subtle, alternating between shots of different size, suggesting that King was mastering the art of composition.

A funny, moving look at the complications of modern love, starring Edinburgh Festival Best Newcomer Ciaràn Dowd (Drunk History). A group of friends are at different stages in their relationships and none of them are convinced about what they're doing: Emmy and Samantha are getting married, Josh and Jenifer are breaking up and Niall is sleeping around; but can any of them hold down a relationship?

How silly are to grow up

Marcos (Gustavo Garzon), an existentially bored university lecturer, gets a grant to return to his birthplace to carry out biochemical research. There he meets old buddy Raul (Leo Masliah), who is now a priest. The story opens out to bring in their schooldays 20 years earlier, during Argentina’s politically active ’70s, when Raul was going out with Tamara (Victoria de Elizalde), who now lives in Paris with husband Paul (Ginger Poujoulet). The mature Tamara (Laura Melillo) returns to be with her sick mother, and Marcos unwittingly stumbles across some high-level politico-economic corruption on the part of the lab’s owners, led by Dr. Castembacher (Jean Pierre Reguerraz). In a piece in which perfs win out over plot, Garzon is satisfyingly nuanced as the disillusioned Marcos. Technically, pic’s restricted budget makes itself felt.

Kuttram Pudhithu

When Kadhiresan, a disturbed soul masked as a food delivery man, kills and gets arrested for the horrific murder of ACP Sathya’s daughter Preethi, reality fractures and tensions intensify—until Preethi returns back from the dead unharmed five days later, challenging not just law and logic, but the very nature of truth and existence.

Homo Homini

After the cremation of his beloved dog, Savva is heartbroken. On his way home, he drops the box on a stenciled inscription on the pavement. Thinking that it is a sign from his dead friend, he calls the number on the inscription. Soon, a prostitute Anya appears on his doorstep. Anya deceives him and steals the box, thinking that it contains jewelry. Savva calls the number again and goes to the address. In the brothel, Savva finds the box, defeats his offenders, but now Anya is in danger. He saves her, she runs after him and asks for forgiveness. Villainous bullets overtake both - but Savva is saved by the box ... And Savva himself must save Anya.

The Last Temptation

A highly respected surgeon and University Professor becomes infatuated with a pretty young acrobat he meets accidentally in the park one evening. He quits his practice, dumping all his patients and dedicates his life to offering her a new home, money and his passionate love, also trying to sponsor her stage career in any possible way. She takes all he gives but it’s never enough for her and she doesn’t really have to give back much because the old man is head over heels in love with her.
